House Expo, earning accolades as Best Whole-house Automation
System for the PRO2
control system and Best Installation Tool for the new
Crestron Application
Builder software package. Crestron dealer Sound Solutions
also earned the night's highest honor as Dealer of the
Year.
The Mark of Excellence Awards, presented
by CEA's TechHome Division, recognize the finest achievements
in home automation. Each year manufacturers, distributors
and installing dealers enter a competition that is judged
by experts within the industry representing manufacturers,
installing dealers, distributors and the media. The winners
of the awards were recognized at the Mark of Excellence Awards
Dinner at the posh Peabody Hotel in Orlando. Crestron founder
and President George Feldstein proudly accepted the awards.
Headlined by the award-winning PRO2,
the new Crestron 2-Series of control systems is more than
just a new generation of Crestron control systems. At the
core of the Crestron 2-Series is a completely redesigned new
Dual-Bus control engine, based on the hot new 257 MIPS,
32-bit Motorola ColdFire® processor. Onboard 36MB memory
is enhanced with a 4GB expansion slot that supports off-the-shelf
Type II compact flash memory and the IBM Microdrive® hard
disk drive, allowing on-board storage of program and touchpanel
files, room and equipment profiles, firmware, upgrades, databases
and schedules.
With this radically new Dual-Bus Architecture,
blinding speed and massive memory, 2-Series systems are built
for high performance, secure Internet Communications and dynamic

| Innovations Awards
for Design & Technology (CES 2002) |
|
Crestron is the only company to earn three
winners of Innovations
Awards for Design & Technology at CES
2002, all in the Integrated Home Systems category.
The first is the newest addition to the
award-winning Isys line of touchpanels, the TPS-2000L
Compact Wall-Mounted Video Touchpanel. The TPS-2000L features
a 5" high-resolution color screen, while the TPS-3000L
offers a 6" screen. A light sensor automatically brightens
or dims with room light so it's easy to see any time of day.
With a full 180-degree viewing angle, the result is an outstanding
picture for watching TV, previewing DVDs or checking security
cameras, no matter how the panel is mounted.
The exclusive Virtual Pan and Zoom
feature in these new Isys panels is as useful as it is
fun to use. Thanks to Crestron's advanced digital video processor
circuitry, just a touch of the screen with a finger can allow
panning across the video picture and zooming in for the best
view - even with stationary security cameras.
The second of Crestron's Innovations honorees
this year is the new PRO2 control system, the flagship
of the innovative new 2-Series control systems. In
addition to the PRO2, the 2-Series is comprised of the AV2
and RACK2 systems, as well as the cost-effective CP2
and CP2E for standalone room systems, with or without Ethernet
capabilities, respectively.
At the core of the 2-Series is a completely
redesigned new dual-bus control engine. All new Crestron
2-Series systems have been built for high performance, secure
Internet Communications and dynamic expansion capabilities.
The new flagship in the Crestron product line is an ideal
solution for control and automation of audio, video, lighting,
security and HVAC in any commercial application.
The other award winner to be featured
at CES 2002 is the revolutionary new CNX-PVID8 x 4 and
CNX-PVID8 x 3 video processors. Each model accepts component,
S-video and NTSC/PAL composite video sources, including HDTV
signals, and distributes them to display devices throughout
the home via standard CAT5 structured wiring.
The Crestron Home professional CAT5 video
distribution system provides professional quality far above
the level of consumer-grade equipment for sophisticated home
theaters, kitchens, bedrooms, offices and even outdoor areas.
This highly configurable video distribution system delivers
video from up to 64 separate video sources like DVD players,
DSS receivers, tuners, VCRs and cameras into as many as 32
separate rooms and areas via standard CAT5 structured wiring.
The VID8 is ideally used in tandem with
the new Crestron CNX-RMC room control and CAT5 decoder
in each room, which receives and decodes the CAT5 video from
the VID8 and supplies it to the display devices in the room.
Combined with Crestron's CNX-PAD8 professional audio
distribution processor, one of Crestron's CNAMPX 12 or
16-channel intelligent amplifier, and a Crestron control
system, this video distribution solution creates a complete
networked audio/video/control solution for the connected home.

Crestron Voted "Coolest",
Win Two Wavelength Awards
To be recognized as "The Best"
at what you do makes all the sweat, angst and hard work worthwhile.
To be acknowledged as "the Coolest"
is appreciation for style, innovation and individuality.
To be accepted as BOTH by your peers is
the ultimate complement.
After receiving honors for Best Overall
Service and Best Networking Product of the Year at CEDIA
2000 and then earning "Manufacturer of the Year"
honors at the AV

the equally satisfying mantle of "Coolest."

Award as "A-V Company of the Year" at AV
Magazine's 2000 Industry & Technology Awards on Thursday,
October 12 in Surrey, England.

of both the products and their accompanying software also
extends the range of applications to which systems integration
of this kind can be applied into the IT and building management
domains, opening up massive opportunities for systems designers
and installers. It also opens the door to much more cost-effective
ways of managing a-v facilities and for remote service and
diagnostics."
